DIY isn’t easy, to say the least. You have to have a good level of knowledge if you want to do the job well and some people find that no matter what they do, they just can’t seem to get a good result out of the things that they do themselves. If this sounds like you then you have nothing to worry about because there are plenty of beginner jobs that you can do to try and get yourself started. Some of which can be found below.

Leaking Taps

Most taps don’t actually drop because the pipes themselves are rusted. It’s usually because of the washer. This won’t cost you much at all and they are incredibly easy to fit. The only tools you need for this job include an adjustable spanner and a screwdriver. You also need to make sure that you turn off your water supply as well before you start dealing with any pipes. When you have loosened the problem pipe, pop on the new washer and the job is done.

Painting

New paint can really lift a room and it won’t cost you much either. If you want to get the best result out of your job then you have to make sure that you use high-quality paint brushes and that you also use a good quality paint as well. When you are able to do this, you can then really get a great result out of your DIY experience. Painting can also really boost the value of your home as well, so when you do decide to crack open that tub of magnolia, you know that you’ll be doing your finances a serious favor in the long-run.

Squeaking Floorboards

Squeaking floorboards are annoying and if you have someone coming round to view the home then you really don’t want them to be put off because of something like this. The squeak of a floorboard is usually caused when the floorboards rub against one another. This happens when bolts or screws are loose. You can easily shake some talcum powder through the cracks to try and lubricate the boards or you can even try and screw them down more by using either a screwdriver or a drill.

Blind installation

If you want to brighten your home then indoor roller blinds are the way to go. They are very easy to install and they are also very easy to operate as well. When you do get them installed, you will soon see how much better they make the room look and you would also be surprised at how easy the whole room can be brought together as well.

Bath Resealing

Over time, the sealant around your bath can go moldy. A poorly applied sealant can look messy, but with a bit of practice, you should be able to re-do it more problem. If you want to smooth the finish, put some shower gel on your finger and run it over the sealant to smooth it as this stops it from clogging up and causing lumps.
