Rants and Raves of a Bum

Before we get busy with the upcoming holidays, we all know that after Christmas, we will be preparing for the summer break. And ladies, it’s that time again! Time to think about swimwear.

As women, we often receive comments about our bodies like slim down, find the right shape for your body, fat, chubby, too thin and the dreaded, summer beach body. Well, I found an online swimwear shop that has it all from regular to plus sizes.

I found Lime Ricki, an online shop that lets you say goodbye to rules about what we can and can't wear and empower ourselves to accept our bodies, embrace our imperfections and recognize there is no such thing as finding the right body—because you already have it.

Lime Ricki modest swimwear are actually designed by three sisters. These women after a frustrating swimsuit shopping experience, they then decided to make and design swimsuits they wanted to see and to wear. Lime Ricki aims to provide swim wears in all sizes, choices and modest swimwear.
What I like about Lime Ricki is that they have a wide range of stylish swimsuits that compliments you no matter what your shape or size is. Also, their swimwear is made of quality fabric that guarantees comfort when wearing it.

Some things you want to know about Lime Ricki:

1. They are an all-women company---owned, operated and run by a smart, talented and compassionate team of women who think designing and selling swimsuits is pretty awesome.

2. They NEVER airbrush or photoshop our models. They are just right the way they are. (And so are you!)

3. Every order they receive is hand-picked by an actual person in their warehouse in Salt Lake City. And each package is shipped off to you with gratitude and love.

4. Starting in 2018, all of the swimsuits are sewn in the USA, in a responsible factory in Los Angeles, because quality matters to us.

5. Lime Ricki believe in giving back. You can feel good about your purchase, knowing that a portion of all sales goes to charity.

Know that I've introduced you to Lime Ricki, I hope you also visit their website and take a look around their fabulous collections. Add to cart your favorite pieces and see for yourselves why I love Lime Ricki!

Let’s be honest; having a pool in your yard is pretty luxurious. We’re talking pool parties, morning dips, and a chance to keep the kids entertained every weekend. It doesn’t get much better for making the most of your outside space. The chances are that you’ve missed the opportunity to swim during these long winter months.

Now, though, the sun is starting to shine, and we’re seeing blue skies again. You’ve already gotten your yard in check, but you have yet to turn your attention to your pool. Already, you can feel the water on your skin, and the chlorine in your hair. Sadly, the thought of tackling a pool which has been stagnant all winter gives you a headache. As such, you’ve been putting it off and putting off.

But, it’s past time you got around to this. It needn’t even be the mammoth task you’re imagining. All you need to do is take care of these essentials to pull your pool into summer.

Scrub the pool walls as soon as you can

Over the winter, scum and algae have a habit of building up and clinging to all four pool walls. That makes for a load of a mess, and a backbreaking cleanup. The trouble is that, if you don’t take care of this first, all your other efforts will go to waste. But, that’s only half the reason you should tackle this as soon as you can. It’s also important to clean those walls before the weather gets too hot. This an unpleasant task at any time of year, but I'd feel much worse with the sun scorching down on you. Next weekend, then, you may want to get around to digging out that pool brush and taking care of this.

Check your equipment

We all know that equipment is liable to break when it hasn’t been used or inspected for a while. The last thing you want is to turn your pump on ready for a day in the pool, only to hear it sputter and die. Even if your pump is okay, your filter could well be backed up with all that winter muck. Make sure these issues don’t hold you back by doing thorough checks on your equipment. Run your pump and test how it goes so that you know whether you need to call a company like Slater Pumps for repairs. Clear your filter and check that it’s doing its job. You may even want to test your pool heater while you’re at it.

Test your chemical levels

Once your water is looking clean and ready to go again, you also need to test those chemical levels. An imbalance here could lead to serious health issues for anyone who swims in your water. Make sure that doesn’t happen by testing pH, chlorine levels, alkalinity, and calcium hardness. A simple test can let you know whether you need to top up or water down. Then, you can slip into your swimming costume at last.

If you’re ready to book a summer vacation, chances are you’re looking for somewhere hot, sunny, and exotic. Our tiny planet gives you plenty of choices, but you may find that some places are much hotter than you’re used to. As always, take care in the sun, wear your hat, and drink plenty of water. Now, which of these amazing locations will pique your interest for a scorching summer break away?
India
India has a wide range of climates and seasons, but if you time it right, you can enjoy temperatures of about 91 degrees in May. By July, you’ll se a little sun and instead cool off with the rainy season. After the rains, October can be a much more comfortable month to enjoy some sunshine and warm temperatures. There are plenty of beautiful buildings to see and a lot of coastlines to enjoy. Will India be your destination choice?

Cuba
June may be the hottest month here, but it can also be the wettest! Many parts of Cuba, like Havana, are humid for much of the year. July often sees a break in the rain without a dip in the temperature, so this could be quite ideal. Cuba isn’t the closest place for most of us, so look for some dream home locations in Miami for your stopover. That way you can enjoy some sun en route to your vacation destination.

Cyprus
Many Europeans are choosing to retire here because the weather is pretty awesome all year round. Like the rest of Europe, August tends to be the hottest and driest month. This area is known for its magnificent beaches, but there are plenty of rugged landscapes to enjoy too. Many ancient buildings can provide a little shade during the hottest part of the day. Enjoy good food, good wine, and great weather in Cyprus this summer.

Thailand
This country is well known for its exotic beaches and some very exclusive spas. It’s hot all year round here. December to February offer the driest months and a tiny dip in the temperature. This could be the most comfortable period to work on your tan. Many visitors prefer the spa resorts that offer unique accommodation rather than sticking to hotels. Go to relax, and come back feeling revitalized from all that wonderful sunlight.

Sharm El Sheik
Egypt is a very hot, dry place to enjoy the maximum sunshine. June to September are the very best months, and this can make the area very popular with tourists. It is a resort town with plenty to do along the gorgeous coastline. You can find bars and restaurants that often specialize in fish dishes for tourists. There is plenty of marine life to enjoy if you want to cool off in the water too. As always, check your local government’s travel advice to see what your requirements are.
Whenever you choose to take your sunshine-filled vacation, you can still find some wonderful choices around the globe. Grab your tickets, pack for the beach, and enjoy! Where will your summer vacation take you?

The school year is coming to a close which means that it is almost summer time! During the summer most families will take the time to travel together or do special activities. Some kids will attend summer camp while their parents work during the day and then do fun things together afterward such as having a barbecue or going out for ice cream. This article will help identify some fun ideas for things that you can do with your family this summer.

  1. Swim. Young kids and adults alike often love to spend time in the water during the warm summer months. This summer, consider investing in a family lounge pool that you can enjoy all summer long. Envision coming home from a long day of work and being able to grab a float and lounge in the pool while watching the sunset. Your kids will love being able to frolic and play in the pool which will wear them out so that they sleep throughout the night.
  2. Crafts. If you have young kids, consider looking up a variety of crafts on Pinterest to do with them this summer. Crafts allow kids the opportunity to use their imagination, use their hands, and create things that they can be proud of. Not to mention, doing crafts together will generate a lifelong memory that does not cost a thing.
  3. Library. While the school year has come to a close, that does not mean that learning should completely come to a halt. During the summer, take your kids to the library. Often times libraries have fun things going on like age-appropriate discussion groups, lego club, or storytelling. Allowing your kids the opportunity to continue learning through reading and socializing with other kids is a smart idea.
  4. Beach. If you live near a beach or a lake, be sure to visit with your kids. You can go to the beach or lake for the day and explore the outdoors. Perhaps read a book about the beach or lake before you go and then draw parallels between what was discussed in the book and what is seen on location.
  5. Vacation. If you can afford it, consider taking your family on vacation. Whether you go somewhere far away and stay for a week or you go somewhere close and stay overnight, getting away from home and experiencing something new is good for everybody. The memories that you can create by camping together or going to a museum can last a lifetime. Not to mention that your kids are watching every moment you have with them. What you do with your kids and the time you spend with them will play out in future generations.

The experiences that you provide for your kids will last a lifetime. Not to mention that what you teach your kids or expose them to will most likely be the same things that your kids teach or expose their kids to. When the last day of school comes around, be sure to have some ideas in your head for how you will make this summer a memorable one.
