Caring for your body isn’t always as simple as going for a run and eating kale, but it is so much easier than most people think. The common misconception is that there isn’t enough time in the day to exercise, prepare healthy meals and generally look after yourself. But there is. Looking after yourself might take a few minutes longer than your usual routine, but the payoff is more than worth it.

Diet

Eating a balanced diet will not only help you to shift any unwanted pounds, but it also helps to look after your body in the long run. No matter your age, you will get older, and with age comes to a host of potential health problems, most of which can be prevented or lessened through a healthy lifestyle.

Introducing a healthy diet is so easy. By preparing a meal plan for the week, you can choose meals that are more complicated or time consuming for days where you have the time to commit to them. You can also prep food the night before so that you save money while you’re at work because you won’t be popping out to a store in your lunch break.

Exercise

Whether you run marathons or spend 20 minutes a day in your home gym, keeping active is one of the main things you need to do to stay healthy. The endorphins (happy hormones) release after a good workout is great for your mental health. Introducing an exercise plan can be as easy as walking the school run, or a quick morning yoga session. You can ease yourself into it if you want, or you can switch it up completely and work out a plan with a personal trainer at a gym.

It is recommended that you do at least half an hour of exercise a day for your current health and for your future health.

The Outside

Looking after your appearance does an amazing thing for you; it makes you feel good about yourself. The way you look should be dictated by you and not by anyone else. The actual act of spending time on a moisturizing routine or a pedicure actually makes you start to appreciate your body more. The physical routine of it can also act as a great stress relief tactic. Spending a bit of time caring for your outside goes a long way towards caring for your insides.

The Inside

If your inside needs a bit more care than a deep exfoliation, then you might want to think about getting some counseling. There’s a lot of strength in knowing when you need a bit more help. You might need one session, and you might need thirty. It’s all about looking after your mental health - which is every bit as important as looking after your physical health.
